Jenson Button: McLaren is the best platform for Lewis Hamilton – Formula 1 update
Formula 1 McLaren driver Jenson Button has said to Lewis Hamilton that he must stay with his current team, until the expiry of his contract with McLaren, late 2012.
He said that no doubt Hamilton is part of a great team and that it is a supportive platform for him.
Hamilton’s five years senior Button told the media, “Lewis is going to be racing in Formula One for a lot longer than I am and it's his decision but I think he feels very much at home within this team and it might be a surprise going somewhere else.”
He further added, it will be very different environment for him, if he switches to another team. Button, who won 2009’s title, said that he is looking his best future with McLaren and he is proud to be a part of world’s best team. He added that he will fight
for a world championship in the upcoming season.
He went on to say, “I haven't doubted that. We all go through difficult times and this winter hasn't been perfect for us. But when times are tough people always say it makes you stronger.”
Recently, Hamilton admitted that he wants to become the best F1 driver of his generation. He also mentioned he needs more wins to prove himself a successful driver of Formula 1.
The British driver Hamilton has been driving in Formula 1 since four years, however he accepted that he knows people cannot say right now, that he is best one in the world because he did not spend more years into the sport, so he has more to do, in his profession.
With regards to his winter testing progress, he posted supportive run with Button, over the Valencia test session while team was disappointed after the worst progress over the Jerez testing and both drivers were busy learning the advanced new features of
their MP4-26 car.
The four-day Barcelona test was better than last one and Hamilton put all his efforts on the McLaren’s upgraded package and posted the best scores, on the time-sheets. The team also took part into final Barcelona test in Spain, where they completed their
testing with soft and hard compounds of Pirelli rubber.
Recently, Hamilton has signed a two-year contract with McLaren, meanwhile Red Bull boss, Christian Horner admitted that, most probably he will be declare the best driver of Formula 1, in the end of the season. Horner commented on rumours about his moving
to another F1 team and said, “He doesn't have a big management group or organisation telling him what to do and when to do it. He makes his own decisions.”
It is now Hamilton’s choice whether he continues his career with McLaren or not.
