Jenson Button: McLaren’s desire is to take the fight to Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is hoping for a great 2011 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix for the team.
The Brit said that the clear cut desire of the British team is to take the fight to the Red Bull team. Button also commented that a total of four teams will be going for the podium, however Button did not mention the names of those four teams.
Jenson Button was only 3 seconds apart from standing on the top stair of the podium in Malaysia. Button used both the Drag Reduction System and Kinetic Energy Recovery System to boost his performance in the Malaysian Grand Prix and had there been a few more
laps left in the race, Button could have taken the lead over Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel.
The Brit does not see it as a disadvantage and said that the movable wing will be used to its full effect in the Chinese Grand Prix.
“Along the massive back straight [in China] , even without DRS, I still think there'll be plenty of opportunity for overtaking - especially if we see the same sort of close racing as we witnessed in Malaysia,” said the Brit.
Button and his teammate Lewis Hamilton are looking pretty confident after taking a podium finish each in the opening two races of the 2011 season. Button seemed happy about the outing and commented that the team will try to build on their previous performance.
Button stated that the McLaren team have a clear cut goal that is to beat the RBR team.
“We've made no secret of our desire to take the fight to Red Bull, and we're fully aware that stronger opposition will make it harder for them to have a smooth and uninterrupted weekend,” added Button.
The British driver also expressed his feelings about the race and said that a total of four teams will be striving for podium finish in China. The Chinese Grand Prix waits around the corner and although Button did not mention the names of the four teams,
it seems very clear which team will have its nose in front.
