Jenson Button adapting for this year’s Pirelli compound tyres – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is trying his best to familiarise himself with this year’s Pirelli compound tyres so as to come up stronger in the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Button suffered with the limited downforce and tyre degradation problem after the Chinese GP and could not attain competitive results. Nevertheless, he made a striking comeback in the German GP in which he secured an amazing second podium finish after setting off from 6th grid position.
Moreover, he said that he found it very difficult to understand the new Pirelli compound during the last few grands prix and asserted that he required some guidance regarding the tyres.
“I find them very difficult to understand,” Button said. “That's why we tried a few new things this year in Canada and Monaco and places like that, because I felt like I needed to find a bit more of a direction with the tyres. But what we tried definitely didn't work, so we reverted back to what we had at the start of the year for Valencia and that's when we started being more competitive in terms of me within the team being more competitive, not compared to Ferrari and Mercedes and Red Bull and all that but compared to Lewis.”
Although, he said that he felt extremely disappointed over his poor performances during the past races and was unaware about the whole situation. Nonetheless, he said that he is making his best efforts to adapt to the new Pirelli tyres in order to attain competitive results in the forthcoming races.
Furthermore, he said that they have made some crucial progress after the British GP in which they suffered due to the altering weather conditions. In addition, he said that he is very much pleased with the updates in the MP4-27 and admired all the endeavours of his team to put him back in action again.
The British driver is apparently one of the strongest candidates in this year’s championship and it will be thrilling to see how he comes up in the race ahead which is to be held at Hungaroring Circuit in Budapest on July 29.
