Jenson Button believes McLaren can beat Red Bull Racing team in 2012 season – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button believes they can compete against Red Bull Racing team in the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Button said that they are ending the 2011 Formula 1 season in a better way as compared to 2010. He added that if they can carry on with the same form and make some more progress he thinks they can take a very strong start to the next season.
The Brit talked to the media and stated that the current season is very competitive these days, as there are only two rounds left and everyone is looking for their best possible end in the 2011 fight.
Button also mentioned that they are not racing against amateurs in the season.
The 2009 world champion discussed the 2011 Formula 1 season’s races and added that it is fact they have had some very good races this year, especially in Canada, Hungary and Japan. They have won some races and came close to winning at some others, but they
have not had the consistency throughout the 2011 F1 season so far like Red Bull Racing team and its driver Sebastian Vettel.
Button commented, “Formula One is so competitive these days and we're not racing against amateurs, you've got be there from the word go and that's got to be our aim.”
On the other hand, the Woking-based outfit principal Martin Whitmarsh stated that the last two rounds of the season will be an uphill battle for them.
Whitmarsh added, “We seem to be quick enough to beat one Red Bull, but we haven't been quick enough to beat the Red Bull driven by Sebastian. I think we haven't been quite there and in this competitive arena we've got to make sure as a team we don't make
mistakes and have a quick enough car - we haven't always had a quick enough car.”
The McLaren-Mercedes team principal is happy with his drivers’ performance in the ongoing season so far.
After completing 17 rounds of the season, the McLaren team is placed at the second place ahead of Ferrari with 442 points in the team standings.
Let’s see how they perform in the last two rounds of the season taking place in Abu Dhabi and Brazil respectively.
