Jenson Button believes small things will prove to be significant in the season ahead – Formula 1
Jenson Button believes that it will be little things that will make the major impact between the teams at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Button said that most drivers know the Spanish track fairly well and it will make it tough for everyone as the level of competitiveness will be very high. Already the season has seen a very closely fought ordeal.
The season has seen four different Grand Prix winners in all four races so far and no one driver or team can be tagged as hot favourites. Although at the moment, it would be safe to assume that the fight will be between Red Bull, McLaren, Lotus, Mercedes
and Ferrari.
“Barcelona can be a funny circuit,” Button said. “We all test there so regularly that every driver knows it like the back of his hand, yet it can still be an extremely tricky place to get absolutely right. But, because every team is so dialled in to the
track, even having a well-sorted car isn't necessarily the answer because it's sometimes the smallest differences that determine the order.”
“You need to have absolutely every box ticked if you're going to win at Barcelona. It's a place that punishes poor balance like almost nowhere else - if your car is under-steering around here, then you're going to really struggle,” he added.
Button won the opening race of the season the Australian GP and was being billed as the favourite to go on to win the title but since then a lot has changed. While he still remains in contention but with so many drivers still in the range to fight it out
for the title will make it all the more difficult any driver to tackle with. Button will also be going up against his teammate Lewis Hamilton who will want to finish ahead of Button at any cost to prove that he is still the leading driver for McLaren.
It will be interesting to see how teams and drivers manage to come up with performances to stand out from the rest. Button’s point of making small things count will be the significant factor in deciding this.
The European leg of the season is going to start with the Spanish Grand Prix. The race is scheduled for May 13, 2012.
