Jenson Button calls 2012 Brazilian GP as his craziest race ever – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has called the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix as his craziest race ever and is feeling really happy after claiming victory in the dramatic season finale.
Button dropped to third place after the safety car, but he comfortably got the lead after the incident of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hulkenberg. Although, he said that at first, he was a bit worried about the race strategy to use slick tyres during the rain,
nevertheless, he expressed that he is very pleased with the result and admired the support of his race engineer.
“It was a crazy race; probably the craziest race I've ever been in,” Button said. “Doing so many laps in the wet on slick tyres just feels wrong, but it was the right thing to do. The whole time you're on the radio with your engineer discussing what other
people are doing and they keep saying “How wet is it? How wet is it?” and I'm like “Guys come on, I'm driving through turn six at 140mph!” But it was really good and it's good to have that relationship with your engineer, you have a really good understanding.”
In addition, he paid tribute to Hamilton who has left the Woking based team and will drive with Mercedes as Nico Rosberg’s teammate in the next year. Besides, he said that they had a great time together and will always cherish the moments which they have
spent in the team.
Furthermore, he wished the 2008 world champion best of luck for the future and said that they are hoping to come up stronger in the next season.
Additionally, he congratulated Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who won his third consecutive championship title by only three points from Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
The 2009 world champion faced considerable technical issues in few races due to which he lost some important points in the championship battle. Nonetheless, he has still performed convincingly well in this season.
It will be interesting to see how he performs with his new teammate, Sergio Perez who is young, aggressive and talented, in the coming year.
