Jenson Button calls Suzuka his second home race
The Formula One caravan is ready to move towards its sixteenth rendezvous in Japan next weekend. After witnessing a long series of thrill and excitement all through the season, the end is expected to be even more awe-inspiring and nerve tickling.
Like all other teams, McLaren is also making its final preparations for the rest of the four arenas, where the final episodes of Championship battle would be staged. The team driver, Jenson Button believes that the last four tracks on the calendar would
suit them far better than the Marina Bay where he had raced last week. He thinks that the weekend in Singapore brought them a lot of disappointment.
It was already being anticipated that Marina Bay track wouldn’t suit the team well while Lewis Hamilton’s unfortunate retirement was the last thing the team could have fancied. Right from the start of the race, Button had pushed his McLaren hard enough to
catch up with the forerunners, Red Bull and Ferrari. But it was soon evident that he unmatched their pace. Still, Button managed to finish at the fourth place.
The British driver currently stands shy of 25 points from the chart leader, Mark Webber, a difference worth a single race win only. With McLaren team now heading for the next round in Japan, Button stated, “Singapore was always going to be a tough race.
The pace wasn't in the car and I wasn't 100% with it, but it was alright and to get 12 points was pretty good.”
He seems pretty confident for Suzuka as he hopes to see his team coming out of the purple patch now that certain modifications have been made in the car. He explained, “There are also a few things we used on Friday in Singapore whom we were unable to use
on Saturday and Sunday because of reliability issues, so that will hopefully be with us in Suzuka.”
Button termed the Japanese Grand Prix his second home race because of his girlfriend, Jessica Michibata, who also is a Japanese model. He maintained, "I see it as my second home grand prix. It's a very special race, and one I'm very much looking forward
to because I love Suzuka. If we have a good car around there then it's a lovely place to be competitive. I'm hoping we'll have some good support from the Japanese fans, and with Jessica being Japanese I'm sure there'll be lot of her supporters there as well."
