Jenson Button eagerly waits for 2012 United States Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is eagerly waiting to take part in the 2012 United States Grand Prix and is keenly looking forward to drive at Circuit of The Americas which is a completely new track in the calendar.
Button performed quite convincingly in the qualifying of the Abu Dhabi GP held at Yas Marina Circuit last weekend and secured fifth grid slot. Afterwards, he had a tough battle with Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing during the ending laps, but lost his
position to the defending champion and came fourth in the race.
Even though, the British driver has faced many reliability and tyre management issues in the season so far due to which he lost some important points in the championship fight. Nevertheless, he has asserted that he is not feeling upset over the problems
and is positively looking forward to perform well in the remaining two races of the ongoing season.
Furthermore, he has said that he is very much excited about driving his car on a fresh circuit and is hoping to see good overtaking opportunities in Austin. Besides, he said that he is expecting to see huge support from the fans in USA.
“On paper, the circuit looks to have a little bit of everything the plan-view certainly looks familiar; you can see elements of Maggotts/Becketts complex from Silverstone; there's reverse of Istanbul Park's Turn Eight, too; and I can even see a bit of the
Hockenheim infield, too,” Button said. “Whether those elements will blend together to make satisfying whole remains to be seen, but there are a couple of long straights into tight corners, too, which should at least open up the possibility of overtaking.”
“I really cannot wait to get out to Austin and see the city, the people and the track,” he added.
Presently, he is standing at sixth place in the drivers’ championship with 153 points. Additionally, he is ahead of Felipe Massa of Ferrari and is behind his teammate, Lewis Hamilton.
Let’s see how the 2009 world champion performs in the last two rounds of the current season.
