Jenson Button enjoys return to podium at Hockenheim – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button says that he enjoyed his way to the podium at the German Grand Prix held last Sunday.
The driver says that it feels great to be in the race to the championship.
The British driver was able to make it to the podium for the first time after Chinese Grand Prix in the current 2012 Formula 1 season, when he finished second in Beijing.
Yesterday at Hockenheim, Button was able to secure second place on the podium along with Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen. Although, he finished third after the race but due to an illegal overtaking move by Sebastian Vettel, he was promoted to the second
place.
He said that he enjoyed the German GP although it was difficult to overtake Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel. He further added that his team was able to reduce the pit stop time significantly; although in the past, pit stops used to be a problematic
area for McLaren.
Button said, “I must just say there's been some negative talk about our pit stops in the past but the boys today did an unbelievable job. 2.4 seconds I think our pit stop was, which is just a blink of an eye so congratulations to those guys, and good to
get back on the podium.”
When Button was asked about the overtaking incident which took place at the hairpin of the Hockenheim circuit, he said that he does not want to comment on that incident. He said that it was the only incident which was unpleasant during the race. He further
added that the footage of the grand prix is available and it can easily be referred to confirm what happened.
He added that there were some good strategies and some other fights on the circuit which were enjoyable. Besides, he expects that they will be holding the same place at the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix, scheduled for July 29, 2012.
The British driver further added, “I don't think there's anything I need to say, you can see the footage and see what you think yourself. That's the only bit of the race really I don't want to talk about, the rest of it was great. I really enjoyed it.”
