Jenson Button expects strong fight in 2012 Hungarian GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is expecting a strong fight amongst all the contenders in the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix which is about to be held at Hungaroring in Budapest on the coming Sunday.
Button set the second best time and followed his teammate, Lewis Hamilton in the first free Friday practice session of the Hungarian GP.
Although, he expressed that he felt quite comfortable behind the wheel of his car MP4-27 and said that he is very much pleased with all the work which his team has done for him. However, he said that he could not make the required progress during the second
session because of rain and expressed his concern about the tight competition.
“The first session was reasonably good - it's good to see that we're competitive straight out of the box,” Button said. “This afternoon's session we tried some different things to help balance; I don't think it was the right thing to do so we've gone back
on most of them. But I'm pretty happy with the car and I think we're reasonably competitive around here, but second session proved that a lot of people are quite competitive around here so it's going to be a fierce battle this weekend and from what we've heard
it should be dry most of the weekend.”
In addition, he said that they have tested some new updates in their car and they hope to attain a competitive edge over other teams in the upcoming race.
Furthermore, he insisted that they must perform well in the qualifying so as to secure competitive grid slot for the approaching race as he believes that the battle is very tough amongst all the rivals and he can only achieve better results if he starts
the race from upper grid position.
Nevertheless, the 2009 world champion said that if unfortunately they couldn’t make a sound step up during the qualifying of the race ahead, he will not feel disappointed and will try his best to score as much points as he can in order to fight for the championship
title.
