Jenson Button expects strong partnership with Sergio Perez in 2013 – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is expecting a strong partnership with his new teammate, Sergio Perez in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
Button old teammate, Lewis Hamilton left the Woking based squad at the end of 2012 and has moved to Mercedes in this year where he has replaced Michael Schumacher who has retired from the sport. In contrast, McLaren signed a multi-year contract with Perez
who has replaced Hamilton in their team.
The Mexican driver performed convincingly well in the last season and attained some competitive results for Sauber. However, it will be important to mention that after signing the multi-year deal with the British team, Perez could not score good points for
Sauber. Therefore, there are many speculations that he may struggle at McLaren in this season because he is quite young to handle the pressure of a big team.
Even though, Perez is less experienced than Button, however, the British driver has said that he is expecting a very good season alongside his new teammate. Besides, he said that they are very happy to have him in their team and are looking forward to attain
better results in this season.
“I had three fantastic seasons racing alongside Lewis, but nothing stays the same in Formula One and people move on,” Button told the official McLaren website. “It's always interesting to have a new team-mate - there's that inevitable getting-to-know-you
period when you're settling in, but I'm really pleased to have Checo at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.”
“That's never been an issue at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and I think we're going to work well together Checo may only be 22, but he's very sensible and he knows what's needed to get the most from car, so I predict it'll be a very strong partnership,” he
added.
The 2009 world champion faced a lot of technical and tyre management issues during the last season because of which he lost some crucial points in the championship fight. Nonetheless, he is aiming to hit back in this season with a competitive car. Let’s
see whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team or not.
