Jenson Button expresses gratitude towards McLaren fans – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has expressed his immense gratitude towards the fans for all their love and support and said that they are working extremely hard to get their form back for the season ahead.
Button has not been able to attain competitive results with consistency in the season until now as he faced some huge technical and tyre management issues which hindered his performance very badly in a couple of races. Therefore, he has shown some concern
over their performance because they have not been able to come up to the expectations of their fans.
Nevertheless, he said that they are very thankful to their fans for their support and are trying their best to gain their pace back.
“You don’t really want to look them in the eye because we know we’re not doing as well as we should be doing,” he said. “So I have to say thank you for all their support and let them know we are doing everything we can.”
Besides, he said that they are earnestly hoping to keep on making the necessary developments in their car to resolve the reliability issues. He also said that he is looking forward to attain good points in the British GP to make his home crowd happy.
“I’m hopeful we’re going to keep making steps forward every race we go to so by the time we get to the British Grand Prix we’re parking some good points. That would be great in front of my home crowd. That’s what I’m personally hoping for, although obviously
I’d like to get better results before that,” he added.
Presently, he is standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 17 points. Moreover, he is ahead of his teammate, Sergio Perez and behind his main rival, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
Meanwhile, the Woking based squad are standing at 6th place in the constructors’ championship and have only been able to score 29 points. Additionally, they are ahead of Toro Rosso and behind Force India.
It will be exciting to see how Button and Perez perform in the Monaco GP which is to be held at Circuit de Monaco this weekend.
