Jenson Button eyes next year’s championship
For some the war is never over! Just as the 2010 World Championship battle ends up for the McLaren driver, Jenson Button, he has started preparing for the next year’s championship.
While the rest of the Formula One caravan prepares to move forward for the last round of the season, the defending World Champion, Button sits down with his team to plan the upcoming 2011 season.
The reigning world champion’s hopes to keep the title secured for another season died away at the last week’s Brazilian Grand Prix. The British driver was unable to end anywhere above fifth place, while the other four contenders stood ahead of him, thus
leaving him behind as they head for this year’s final tug to be held in Abu Dhabi this Sunday.
This means this Sunday would be seeing Button drive the ‘number one’ tagged McLaren for the last time, although he hopes to get it back only in a year’s time.
Recalling how the debut season of the driver has padded with the British Team, McLaren, he thinks that it was one of the most exciting and fun filled season he has ever had. Yet he proclaimed that the year was not free of errors from his side. He explained
saying, "This has been a good season and a lot of stuff we've done this year we'll gain a lot of experience for next season."
While commenting on the MP4-25, the McLaren car that he has driven for the first time this season he said, "The car is a good car, but there are areas where we still need to improve, we know that, and it's about making sure we do improve those areas for
next year. So it's going to be an exciting winter. I'm looking forward to it."
Moreover, he thinks that he had not been able to deliver his best on the track in some of the races and now he wishes to come back next season with a new spirit and form. He very openly admitted that he needs to work hard on his Saturday’s form as he has
had some very poor qualifying all through the season.
However, he was proud to say that some of the races had been very good for him and he has jumped up a lot of grid positions at several rounds this year. He also believes that both the team drivers, Button and Lewis Hamilton were been able to do a lot better
than the strength of their car at some of the tracks.
Now, as he packs for the final round, the 30-year-old declared, "I feel I'm part of this team and hopefully part of their future as well, and although I'll no longer have number one on my car after this weekend, it just means I'll be even hungrier to get
it back next year."
