Jenson Button feels confident for 2012 European Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is feeling confident for 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain on June 24 after struggling in the last four races.
Button has only been able to score 2 points in the last four grands prix as he faced difficulties with the car’s setup and the tyre management. Nonetheless, he has expressed that he is not feeling upset with the ongoing issues and is positively looking forward
to perform well in the forthcoming race.
“Hopefully straight away we'll have a good feeling,” he said. “I've done a h**l of a lot of laps in the simulator with this setup that we're going to start with so I don't feel it's going to be a massive surprise to me. To be fair, a lot of it is quite similar
to what we had at the start of the season so I won't be shocked in any way with the setup so we should be able to get on top of it pretty quickly.”
In addition, he said that he has full faith in his team and said that they are trying their best to make the considerable advancements and the essential preparations for the approaching races.
At present, the 2009 world champion is standing at 8th position in the drivers’ championship with 45 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
Besides, it will be important to mention that the British driver delivered a remarkable performance in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and claimed victory after setting off from second grid position.
Conversely, he could not score even a single point in the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia and came 14th even after beginning from second place in the grid. However, he made a striking come back in the third race at Shanghai
International Circuit and secured an incredible second podium finish after starting from fifth place in the grid.
Above and beyond, he is undoubtedly one of the most favourite drivers in this year’s championship fight and it will be very interesting to see how the season progresses for him.
