Jenson Button feels confident for Australian GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is feeling quite confident for the first Grand Prix of the upcoming season going to be held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia on March 18, 2012 as he had won the Australian GP during his first season with McLaren couple
of years back.
Button said that they had quite a reliable pre-season testing programme this year as compared to the preceding season and he was pleased with team’s preparations.
“I'm happy with our preparations,” said Button.
Moreover, he said that he was eager to know where they would fall during the course of the upcoming season.
It would be quite interesting to mention here that the British driver started his F1 career with Williams and won two consecutive races at Melbourne in his debuts with Brawn GP and McLaren in 2009 and 2010.
“My first grand prix was here way back in 2000 - it was just a buzz to be in Formula 1: it was pretty intense, the whole weekend just flew past pretty quickly. I had pole here in 2006 - another good memory. But I think the two most significant memories for
me were, in 2009, winning from pole for Brawn GP. It was a momentous race for the entire team and it felt so sweet to give them such a reward,” said Button.
In addition, Button said that winning the first race in 2010 at Albert Park was an incredible day for him where he went early with set of dry tyres and almost loosed his car at third turn. Nevertheless, he found the pace with the car afterwards during the
race and made his first win for Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Besides, he said it was a victory that came out of the blue to him and he has a personal affiliation with it.
Furthermore, the chief executive of F1, Bernie Ecclestone had said that Button did a very good job last season. Likewise, he said the Briton takes good care of his car, tyres and everything else which is really good.
Ecclestone also said that Button can prove out to be the driver who gets the edge in the forthcoming season.
