Jenson Button feels contented after Friday practice of 2012 European GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button feels contended after the free Friday practice sessions of 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain.
Button came 12th in the timesheets of FP2 with his best time of 1 minute and 39.990 seconds. Although, he struggled with the front tyre lock-up at turn 17 during the first session, however, he expressed that he felt comfortable in the car.
“The car hasn't felt too bad today,” Button said. “I think we've struggled quite a bit with front locking, that's been quite a big issue for us round here, and it's not something that you expect. When you're braking you normally know when you're going to get front locking but it's just very grabby. I think we've done some things today to improve that.”
In addition, he said that they have been trying their best to make the significant advancements and the considerable preparations with an aim to improve the pace of their car so as to attain competitive results in the approaching races to fight for the championship title.
Furthermore, he said that they are presently working very hard to solve the issue of front locking and are targeting to attain competitive results in the race ahead.
“We did do a lot of work through the day to really work on improving on the front locking and sometimes when you do that the balance can become a little bit lazy so we think that's probably the issue,” he said.
On the other hand, his teammate, Lewis Hamilton also faced a lot of issues during the practice sessions. Nonetheless, he asserted that they will sort out the problems soon and he is hoping to come up strong on the race day.
It will be important to mention that the 2009 world champion has been facing huge difficulties with the car’s setup and the tyre management in the last four races and has only been able to score 2 points. Nevertheless, he said that he is not upset and is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming season.
