Jenson Button feels embarrassed after the Spanish Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that their performance in the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix was a little bit embarrassing as they failed to secure competitive results as compared to their rivals.
Button struggled a lot with his qualifying pace at Circuit de Catalunya and could only secure 14th grid slot for the race. Although, he was dropped to 17th position just in the start of the race, but he performed convincingly well towards
the end and managed to secure 8th place finish.
The Briton said that a lot of their fans were in Barcelona to support them, but unfortunately they could not attain good result which is pretty embarrassing for them. Nevertheless, he asserted that they will hopefully resolve their reliability issues before
their home race in Great Britain.
“I saw a lot of McLaren rocket red caps and shirts out there and it's actually a little bit embarrassing for us because we are not doing a good enough job,” he said. “But we'll get there and I have to thank them for the support. We'll hopefully have a full
crowd in Silverstone.”
In addition, he said that they have successfully managed to gather some essential information which they can use to make further improvements in their car to perform well in the season ahead. Besides, he said that they are aiming to introduce some significant
updates in the Monaco GP to enhance their car’s pace.
He also said that they are quite contented with their results in the preceding race and are targeting to compete well with their rivals in the approaching races with an improved car.
“We got a lot of useful information today with the parts on the car and there are more new parts coming to the car in Monaco. Maybe we've made progress, but we have to get back and see. Both cars were in the points, which is positive I suppose,” he added.
Currently, the 2009 world champion is standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 17 points. Moreover he is ahead of his teammate, Sergio Perez and behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. Let’s see how he shows up in next race.
