Jenson Button feels encouraged for 2012 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is feeling encouraged for 2012 Singapore Grand Prix despite facing retirement in the preceding race held at Autodromo di Monza.
Button could not score even a single point in the Italian GP as he faced fuel system failure due to which he had to move back to the paddock.
Although, he seemed really strong in the previous race as he was at second place behind his teammate, Lewis Hamilton when he was encountered with the problem. Nevertheless, he has said that he is not looking back and is not feeling upset over his retirement
at Monza while he said that he is confidently targeting to carry on the competent form of his team in the races ahead.
Moreover, he said that he is hoping to secure competitive result in the night race at Marina Bay Street Circuit so as to make his mark stronger in the championship fight.
“Obviously, it was disappointing not to be able to help the team to a one-two finish, but these things happen. What's more encouraging is that we have strong pace on a range of very different circuits and, hopefully, we can continue to push that momentum
in Singapore next weekend,” he said.
In addition, he said that the track of the next race is very challenging and has unique characteristics. Even though, he asserts that overtaking is very difficult in the approaching race, however, he said that the DRS zone will provide amazing opportunity
to pass the drivers in the front.
“The Marina Bay track is unique - there are a couple of long straights, so it's very fast, but all the corners are generally taken in second or third gear, so you're trying to find the best set-up compromise particularly as you need good end-of-straight
speed for overtaking into Turn Seven,” he added.
Over and above, he said that he really enjoyed racing in Singapore during the last season and is expecting to take the best advantage of the update package.
It will be exciting to see how the 2009 world champion shows up in the remaining season.
