Jenson Button feels extremely excited about 2012 Japanese GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is feeling extremely excited about 2012 Japanese Grand Prix which is to be held at Suzuka next weekend and is aiming to perform well there.
Button has said that the victory which he claimed in Japan during the last season has always been very special to him and he is confidently looking forward to attain competitive result this year too.
Moreover, he said that he has a very good affiliation with Japan as Jessica Michibata, who is a Japanese fashion model, is his girlfriend. In addition, he expressed that he has always loved racing there as he feels immensely pleased with the overall environment.
“All of my grand prix wins have felt special, but winning at Suzuka in 2011, at the first grand prix held in Japan since the terrible tsunami last March, was an achievement that still makes me feel incredibly proud and emotional,” said Button. “As everybody
knows, Japan means a lot to me. It's a place I love, I've been here so many times - for business and pleasure and I still feel that wide-eyed awe and deep emotion for a country that exists so comfortably on so many different levels.”
Furthermore, he said that the track of the next race is very challenging as it gives almost no room for mistakes which makes point scoring really tough.
“Suzuka is definitely a circuit that puts hair on your chest,” he added.
At present, he is standing at 6th place in the drivers’ championship with 119 points. Besides, he is ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and is behind his main rival, Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing.
Even though, the current leader in the drivers’ rankings, Fernando Alonso has a strong lead over the 2009 world champion. Nevertheless, the Briton is not feeling upset and is making the essential preparations to show up stronger in the remainder of the season.
The 32-year-old surely stands amongst one of the most competent contenders in this year’s championship fight and it will be thrilling to see how he performs in the remaining six grands prix of the season.
