Jenson Button feels happy after Friday practice in Abu Dhabi – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is feeling very happy after the Friday practice of the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix held at Yas Marina Circuit because he believes that their car is in a better form as compared to the last weekend’s race in India.
Button struggled with his soft tyre pace in the beginning of the Indian GP due to which he lost some crucial time. Even though, he seemed really strong later on hard compound, but because of his poor start, he could only secure 5th place finish
behind his teammate, Lewis Hamilton.
Nonetheless, the British driver has said that they have made some considerable improvements in their car after the last race as he had two convincing practice sessions in Abu Dhabi in which he set the second and third best time.
“It went pretty well, the car is in a better place than it was in India, which is good,” Button said. “On low fuel it seems to take a lot of laps to get the lap time out of it; I only did three laps on the option so I probably didn't find the best with tyre
but I wanted to get on the long run - high fuel run - because that's something I missed out on in India and it hurt me at the start of the race.”
In addition, he said that he is very pleased with the progress which the team has made after facing difficulties in the previous race. Besides, he said that they have successfully gathered the essential information which will surely help in making further
advancement.
“The long run today was good, I'm very happy with that,” he added.
However, he insisted that the competition is very tough and they still need to work on few areas so as to come up stronger on the race day.
Additionally, he said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the qualifying in order to secure a higher grid slot for the race ahead.
It will be thrilling to see how the 2009 world champion performs in the remainder of the season.
