Jenson Button feels positive about the season ahead – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is feeling very much positive about the 2012 Formula 1 season ahead with his updated car MP4-27.
Button is presently standing at 7th place in the drivers’ championship with 76 points along with Romain Grosjean of Lotus. Moreover, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and is behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
Although, he had the best start of the season as he took an amazing victory in the Australian Grand Prix which was held at Albert Park in Melbourne. Later, he secured an impressive second podium finish in the third race after taking a start from 5th
grid slot.
Conversely, he struggled in the next six races with the poor tyre management and lack of downforce due to which he could not attain the desired results.
Nevertheless, he came back extremely well in the German GP and secured an inspiring second podium finish after setting off from 6th grid position. Afterwards, he faced a little bit difficulty in the Hungarian GP in which he could only secure sixth
place finish after starting from 4th grid position.
It will be important to note that even though the 2009 world champion has struggled in many races until now, nonetheless, he emphasised that he is positively looking forward to make his mark stronger in the remaining nine grands prix.
Besides, he said that they have planned to launch some major updates in their car so as to enhance its pace in the approaching races in order to achieve competitive results.
Over and above, he said that they are in a good position to fight for the title in the season ahead.
“I tried a few things with the car and it was the wrong direction - that was around Canada [GP] time,” he added. “But we've come back from that and at the last couple of races I've been a lot happier. So the general car is good and the improvements that
we've put on it at the last two races have been great and I think we're very good at getting everything together at the moment.”
