Jenson Button hopes for rain-free practice day in Germany – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is hoping for a rain-free practice day in Germany so that they may be able to make the necessary assessment of their updates to compete well with their rivals.
Button struggled a lot during the qualifying of the British GP and could only secure 10th grid position. Later, he faced immense technical and tyre management issues in the race and failed to score even a single point for his team as he came 13th.
The British driver has said that although they could not attain desired result in their home race, they are positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming race. Besides, he said that they have a car with a better balance. Therefore, they are
eying to make the essential adjustments after evaluating their car’s update in the free practice session at Nurburgring.
In addition, he said that he is quite hopeful for this weekend’s race as Nurburgring encourages close racing and provides ample overtaking opportunities.
“Of course, the Silverstone result wasn’t where we want to be, but there were some reasons to be encouraged by last weekend. Our car is now better balanced and more driveable, so we’re hoping for rain-free practice day in order to further develop the set-up
during Friday’s two free practice sessions. The Nurburgring is a track that seems to encourage close racing and plenty of overtaking,” he said.
He also stated that the combination of low and medium speed corners make the race even more interesting for the drivers.
“The combination of low- and medium-speed corners tend to allow cars to run quite closely, and there are a couple of big braking zones, where it’s quite easy to get alongside and steal the inside line,” he added.
Presently, he is standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 25 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Adrian Sutil of Force India and behind his main rival, Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
Let’s see how he performs in the approaching race and whether the Woking based team will be able to resolve their reliability issues or not.
