Jenson Button hopes to come up stronger in 2013 Spanish Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is hoping to come up stronger in the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix with their updated car.
Button has not been able to attain competitive results with consistency for his team in the season until now. He came 9th in the Australian GP after qualifying for 10th grid slot and was retired in the Malaysian GP. Although, he made
a convincing comeback in the Chinese GP in which he secured fifth place finish, but failed to keep up consistency in his performance and could only score one point in the Bahrain GP.
After his disappointing 10th place finish in the Bahrain GP, the British driver is positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching races.
The 2009 world champion has said that they have planned to introduce some essential updates in their car in Barcelona and are aiming to make the most out of it so as to attain good results. He also said that although he is not confident about their update
package, but is still hoping for the best.
“There's been a lot of talk about the importance of next weekend's upgrades; but, as with every upgrade, they're simply part of the series of continuous improvement that are made across the season,” he said. “As always, there'll be elements of it that work,
elements that perhaps work in a different way to what we'd anticipated, and elements that don't work, or perhaps require further work. That's life in modern Formula One.”
“So I'm pragmatic about what we'll discover next weekend. Of course, I'm hopeful that it'll move us a step closer towards the destination,” he added.
In addition, McLaren team principal, Martin Whitmarsh said that they cannot make any kind of predictions about the forthcoming race. Nevertheless, he expressed that they are eying for a productive weekend in Barcelona and are planning to gather some valuable
information during the free practice in order to evaluate their updates for the race.
Currently, the Woking based squad are standing at 6th place in the constructors’ championship with 23 points. Let’s see whether they will be able to improve their position in the approaching race or not.
