Jenson Button hopes to see Ferrari’s fortune changed – Formula 1 news
McLaren-Mercedes driver Jenson Button is hoping for a change of fortune for Ferrari and Fernando Alonso.
Button has praised the recent performances of the Spanish driver as he is leading the drivers’ championship with 34 points after the German Grand Prix.
Button said, “Fernando has been phenomenal these last few races, he has done a great job. We just have to hope they do get a little bit of bad luck like we've had.”
The British driver said that Alonso has been giving remarkable performances of late. He further said that despite fact that the Spaniard is giving convincing performances, he can easily go wrong in any upcoming grand prix.
Moreover, he added that if some driver faces a mishap in a race and is unable to finish the race, he tries to get back to his place in the very next race and expecting this can force teams to commit mistakes.
He further added, “But it could easily go so very wrong. If you have one bad race where you don't finish, you get to the next and think 'I have to get back up there', only for you or the team to make a mistake.”
Button added, that he is not predicting that Ferrari are going to commit mistake in the upcoming grand prix but he believes that there is always some uncertainty in judging the possibilities within a team.
He said, “I'm not saying Ferrari are going to make mistakes. I'm just saying you never know, that when it gets difficult, what can happen within a team.”
Furthermore, he said that Ferrari is facing close competition from Red Bull Racing and McLaren and if they perform good in the upcoming Hungarian GP, Alonso might be forced to finish off the podium.
He added that although his results were not so amusing in the last two grands prix but he tried to get the most out of his car. Moreover, he said that in the latter half of the season, he is feeling more confident with his drive.
He added that he is happy with the upgrades and car is doing well on the circuit. Moreover, that it is not possible to predict the future, we do not know will the circuit conditions suit us or not, however, we should see the present results as encouraging.
