Jenson Button hoping for good performance by McLaren at British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s Jenson Button has said that he is hoping for a good and challenging performance by his team this weekend at the British Grand Prix which is the team’s home race.
“There's always a chance [to win]. I think if you look at the last race we saw that the Red Bull was very strong and we were quite a long way behind them. We have updates for this race that will hopefully help us and also we have the difference of the blown
diffuser this race and the electronics,” said Button.
Since it is expected that the off-throttle Blown Diffusers will be banned starting from this weekend’s British Grand Prix, the pace difference between Red Bull Racing, McLaren and Ferrari will decrease as a result of which, the battle up in the front will
get more intense.
Other than that, Button claims that the team has worked very hard on its car for Silverstone and since it is the team’s home grand prix, they are hoping to please their fans to the maximum and perform at their best.
“The important thing is that we've done a lot of preparation work for this race with new components and also running with the new blown diffuser system. It's about preparation for this race, this is a pretty tough circuit to go out on with a new package
so preparation is key and we've prepared very well,” said the former world champion.
Jenson Button has never won or even finished on the podium at the British Grand Prix while his teammate Lewis Hamilton secured the win there during the 2008 Formula 1 season. It was a priceless moment for Hamilton back then as he secured the championship
later on in the season as well.
However, Red Bull are currently on the brighter side of the picture as they are dominating the season with 6 race wins and a perfect pole position score in 8 races so far.
Defeating them is not going to be easy for McLaren or Ferrari but still, there is a strong chance that they might just take the advantage this weekend.
