Jenson Button is feeling positive for 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is feeling positive for 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8 despite underplaying the updates in MP4-27.
Button said that they have planned to come up with some essential updates regarding the aerodynamics of the car while he hoped that the track of the next race will suit them.
Although, he didn’t play up the importance of the upgrades but asserted that he is quite confident for the race ahead.
“We're going to see a step, but I don't think we're going to see a massive step,” he said. “With the regulations being so limited in terms of what you can do aerodynamically, it's difficult to find a massive step like you could last year with the diffuser.
But we do have a few bits aerodynamically, and mechanically there's some stuff that is very exciting. We have bits that should help us around here. But even without the bits on the car I think we should have a pretty good car round here.”
Furthermore, he said that Red Bull introduced some important updates in Valencia concerning the aerodynamics with which Sebastian Vettel performed exceptionally well. However, his alternator failure gave him away towards the end of the race.
He added that they also need to increase their downforce like the defending champions which will definitely provide help in enhancing the pace in the forthcoming race.
Additionally, it will be important to mention that the British driver faced immense difficulties in Montreal and Monte Carlo. Nevertheless, he made quite a convincing comeback in the last race as he secured 8th place finish after taking a start
from 9th grid position.
Besides, the performance in the preceding race has boosted up his confidence and he is aiming to deliver his best in the upcoming race.
Presently, he is standing at 8th place in the drivers’ rankings with 49 points. Moreover, he is 10 points ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and 4 points behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
Above and beyond, he surely stands amongst the most competitive drivers in this year’s championship and it will be interesting to see how he shows up in the approaching races.
