Jenson Button looking for a better Qualifying session in Germany

The current Formula One World Champion Jenson Button is gearing up for the 10th race of the season, the Grand Prix takes place in Germany at the Hockenheim track. Button is currently on 2nd spot on the driver standings and believes he will have to improve on his qualifying sessions, to have any chance of retaining his world title.
Jenson has not been able to come up with the goods in the qualifying sessions this season; he has not been able to get a top 3 spot in any Grand Prix in the first 9 races so far. Team mate Lewis Hamilton has been much faster and has outpaced him on most occasions.
Button said that he is looking at several areas of his car to make some changes and improve his chances of a win this weekend. He added that if he is able to put up a good show on Saturday’s qualifying things will be much easier for him on race day. He said that he has been playing catch up in the previous races and that makes his world load even more.
Button’s quality though can be determined by considering that he has not been doing so well in qualifying, but still is 2nd on the driver standings and his team mate Hamilton leads by 12 points.
Jenson Button had a memorable race at Hockenheim back in 2004. Button managed to get just 14th place on qualifying while driving for BAR but on race day he did astonishingly well and finished 2nd.
The former Brawn driver feels that he has a good idea of the track and will be able to put up a good show this weekend. He said that the new upgrades in his McLaren will enable him to outpace his competitors this weekend. He believes that the new exhaust blown diffuser had been a great addition; he added that the diffuser enhances the down-force that helps in acceleration.
McLaren team’s backroom staff has been working hard on several features in the car, the car’s new additions were tried at the British Grand Prix and once again they will use the additions in the practice session on Friday to check if they are working as expected. The decision to use them or not in the race will be made only after the practice sessions on Friday.
Button said the upgrades might have been undercooked at Silverstone that is why the team was not able to perform to its optimum level at the home Grand Prix. He added that the whole team is expecting much better results this time.
Martin Whitmarsh was a bit more reserved in showing his ambitions about the race. He said that one can never be sure before the car is tested to full extent. He said that the track in Germany may be the right one to test out the changes in the car, but still he will only be confident once they have gone through a successful day of testing on Friday.
Whitmarsh said that the team has been doing extensive work behind the scenes and things do look good for now. He reiterated that he will not make any strong statements till he gets a positive feedback from the team engineers.
Whitmarsh went on to say that he is very pleased that both his drivers are on top of the table, and if the upgrades are successful Hamilton and Button will have a great chance of enhancing the lead at the top.
The McLaren team principal also reassured one and all that the 2 drivers are getting along fine, and there is nothing between the 2 but positive rivalry to win the World Championship.
