Jenson Button looking forward to 2011 Singapore GP after strong show at Monza – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is looking forward to a successful 2011 Singapore Grand Prix after putting up a great performance at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
The Singapore GP is taking place on September 25, 2011 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Button said that he is confident of getting strong results in the Singapore race weekend.
The Brit talked to the media and stated that he is hopeful of having the same sort of pace, which they have in the 2011 Monaco and Hungarian race. The Woking-based outfit driver had great race weekends in Canada and Hungary, where he successfully managed
to win the races.
After winning two races in the season so far, Button is targeting his third victory of the ongoing season at the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix.
Button commented, “It's strange to have concluded the European season and still have six more races remaining. Personally, I love this end-of-year series of flyaway races – the circuits we visit are really diverse and, from a drivers' perspective, they're
some of the best tracks on the calendar.”
He added, “I flew out to Singapore via Japan, so I've had the chance to spend a few days getting myself ready. Of course, for Singapore, we'll revert to the slightly unusual European timetable to ensure that we're as fit, alert and focused for the night
race as we would be for any other grand prix.”
The 31-year-old driver further added that he is really satisfied with his MP4-26 car’s pace and the efforts of his team during the races so far. After the 2011 Italian Grand Prix, Button is positive for the Singapore race. However, he stated that he believes
Singapore will be another strong race for them in the ongoing season.
The McLaren driver was 9.5 seconds slower behind the Italian Grand Prix winner, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel at Monza. After struggling with his car, he ended up in the second position for his team at the Monza racetrack.
Let’s see whether Button successfully manages his third victory of the season in Singapore next weekend.
