Jenson Button looking forward to another race victory in upcoming Valencia Grand Prix – Formula 1
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is looking forward to another race victory in the upcoming Valencia Grand Prix, which is scheduled to be held on June 26, 2011 in Europe.
After winning the race in Montreal recently, Button said that he wants to fight for the 2011 world championship.
The team driver had a trouble free race weekend in Canada, as he successfully finished his race on the top spot ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. He seemed to be struggling for his race victory from the start of the race but somehow managed to beat Vettel
during the last lap of the Montreal Grand Prix.
After the race, the Brit admitted that his performance in Canada helped his confidence a lot. In addition, he believes that he can challenge Vettel for the 2011 drivers’ championship in the remainder of the season.
The 31-year-old driver discussed his Montreal race and added, “I wouldn't say that winning in Montreal has given me extra motivation, because I was already totally committed, but I think it will help to sharpen the focus and conviction of everyone in the
team. We've proved we can challenge and beat Sebastian [Vettel].”
Apart from that, he talked about the upcoming Valencia race weekend. He said that he needs to have a decent pace again for another victory in Europe.
The McLaren driver went on to mention, “The trick will be to find enough performance in the race to overcome any potential difficulties in qualifying. It's a hard place to pass and, even though there will once again be two DRS zones, I don't think that's
going to make it much easier during the race.”
Button is sure that his team will be competitive in the next race. He further added that they will have to focus on their qualifying session and that McLaren must have a good pace for the race day.
After the win in Canada, Button is looking forward to another race victory in the upcoming Valencia GP. Let’s see how he manages his race victory over there.
