Jenson Button looks forward to a great weekend in Canada – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 9.
Button expressed that he has always enjoyed the Canadian GP that takes place in one of the nicest cities of the world where they receive warm welcome by their fans. Moreover, he said that every contender in the sport looks forward to the race in Canada.
“I’ve always enjoyed the Canadian Grand Prix – Montreal is one of the nicest cities on the calendar, we’re always made to feel welcome by the Quebecois, and it’s a race that everyone in Formula 1 looks forward to,” Button said.
“Like Monaco, the Canadian Grand Prix can be something of an enjoyable lottery – but whereas Monaco is a low-speed, high-grip place, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is the opposite: high-speed and low-grip,” he said.
It is to be noted that the British driver claimed an impressive victory in the 2011 Canadian GP after taking a start from 7th grid position and is expecting a strong weekend there in this season too.
“Going back to Canada always brings back happy memories of my race there in 2011,” he explained. “I’m looking forward to a great weekend in Canada.”
Currently, he is standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 25 points. Furthermore, he is behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus and ahead of Adrian Sutil of Force India.
In contrast, his teammate, Sergio Perez is at 12th position in the drivers’ standings with 12 points and is ahead of Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso.
It will be important to mention that the Woking based squad have faced some huge technical and tyre management problems due to which the 2009 world champion has not been able to score competitive points with consistency as compared to his rivals in the season
so far.
The competition is going to be more exciting in the season ahead and it will be thrilling to see how the Briton and the Mexican driver perform in the approaching race.
