Jenson Button not expecting orders from McLaren until now – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is not expecting any kind of orders from his team to help out his teammate, Lewis Hamilton to win the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship.
Button is presently standing at 7th place in the drivers’ championship with 76 points. Moreover, he is sharing his position with Romain Grosjean of Lotus. In addition, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and is behind Nico Rosberg of Mercedes.
Although, he struggled with his race pace after the third race and couldn’t attain competitive results. Nevertheless, he has rectified his mistakes and the Woking based team provided him with a competitive car with some essential updates in the German GP
in which he secured second podium finish and later came 6th in the Hungarian GP.
Furthermore, he has also improved his qualifying pace in the last couple of races in which he managed his tyres really well.
The British driver said that he will definitely try his best to win this year’s championship title as he has not received any kind of instructions from his team to support Hamilton to claim the title.
“I don't think the team will actually ask me to do that,” Button told Sky Sports when asked if McLaren should now back Hamilton for the title. “I personally feel that, until I can't win the championship, there is a chance - you really do never know.”
Nonetheless, he said that he is a team player and will make the best to the efforts to support his team to win the constructors’ title. Besides, he admired the performance of his team in the last two grands prix.
“But I’m also a team player and it’s very important for the team to win the Constructors' Championship - and that is one of our biggest aims this year. The last few races have been very good for the team; I got a second and Lewis got a win,” he said.
Over and above, it will be thrilling to see how the world champion pair of drivers performs in the remaining nine grands prix after the summer break.
