Jenson Button not impressed with balance, hoping for better showing at the race – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has termed his qualifying a disaster after he qualified fifth for the 2011 Indian Grand Prix.
Although Button will be promoted to fourth because his teammate Lewis Hamilton was slapped with a three-grid penalty for ignoring yellow flags at the practice session on Friday. He was 0.8 seconds slower than pole winner Sebastian Vettel after he had
to back off during a part of his flying lap. He also had to use soft tyres to be quicker. Button suggested that he there was something wrong with the balance of his car and he is not particularly happy with it at the moment.
While talking to BBC he said, “No not at all, this morning the car felt great, the pace was good and the car just felt good. And this afternoon I just couldn't find any grip ... on the hard tyre I couldn't find any grip and on the soft tyre the same.”
“I didn't really get a clear lap either on either of my soft tyre runs; the traffic's been terrible out there. I think because the tyres aren't working on the first lap people are trying it and then backing out of it so there's cars everywhere,” he
further added.
As of now, Button will be looking to figure out why he is unable to find the right balance for his car, which at this point is imperative for the race tomorrow. He did say that the car felt better on high fuel and maybe that is the kind of balance
he will find in the race tomorrow.
Button said that he is feeling lucky that he did not find himself at the receiving end of a penalty after he was following Felipe Massa who crashed in Q3, yet he was able to set his quickest time.
Button will be looking to win tomorrow’s race as he is 2nd in the drivers’ championship at the moment with Webber hot on his trail trailing behind by only 13 points. It will be an interesting race tomorrow as the circuit has some good
parts for overtaking.
The action begins on tomorrow October 30, 2011.
