Jenson Button not willing to have any children before he quits racing – Formula 1 news
The 2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button has recently stated that he is not willing to have any children before he quits racing.
“If you start feeling fearful of pushing the car to the limit, you have got to stop … [as it is] not worth the risk,” he argued.
Jenson and his girlfriend Jessica Michibata have been together for a long time now and they care about each other a lot as both of them try their best to attend each other’s respective events.
The two of them were recently asked by the media whether they want to start a family or not as a result of which Jenson replied that he is not considering anything like that until he is done with racing.
“When I have kids it will change, but not yet. That's one reason why I don't want to have kids while I am racing. It's not worth the risk. Also, you don't get enough time to spend with them. It hasn't crept in yet. I'll stop when it does. If you start feeling
fearful of pushing the car to the limit, you have got to stop,” he told the media.
Reports have revealed that 23 drivers racing this season have children. However, Jenson’s point is quite strong as a driver’s ability to focus properly deteriorates as a result of which he does not perform at his best.
“I never want my children to become too fond of me because one day I might not come back and they will suffer less if I don't come back,” according to Alberto Ascari who won the world title in 1952 and 1953. A few days later, he died.
Felipe Massa’s accident and Robert Kubica’s recent accident does make one wonder whether having children for a racing driver is the best decision during his career or not.
Button is currently at the peak of his career as he is driving for one of the top running teams of the sport, McLaren for the 2011 Formula 1season.
The British driver won the 2009 drivers’ title and challenged for the 2010 title actively as well. In 2011, Jenson is expecting even more and he hopes to redeem himself this year by performing even better and hopefully regaining the title he lost last year.
