Jenson Button of McLaren defends his teammate Lewis Hamilton – Formula 1 news
The former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button has recently defended his teammate Lewis Hamilton who was being highly criticised for being careless and over aggressive.
“I think Lewis is Lewis. I don't think he's changed this year from last year. He's a very fast, extremely fast, driver that loves overtaking. I don't really know what else to say about Lewis. We've very different people. Lewis is more outspoken, but is that
wrong? I don't know,” he said.
Hamilton is an aggressive driver who tries to take any opportunity in front of him as a result of which he has suffered a lot as well since he retired from 2 races in 2011 as result of crashes.
These sorts of race finishes are very hurtful for the 2008 Formula 1 world championship as his competitors are already scoring good points at each race and if he fails to finish, he loses a lot of points in the process which affects his championship run
drastically.
At the 2011 Belgian Grand Prix, he retired out of the race and because of that points’ loss, he is now pretty much out of the drivers’ championship of 2011 despite the fact that there are still seven races left.
“We're just different people in that respect. I personally feel that it's better to talk through the team than through the media. But it's just how we're built. We're built differently. We're both very passionate about racing but maybe it comes across in
different ways,” said Button.
Button on the other hand has a very consistent and composed driving style as he does not take many risks and tries his best to drive consistently without taking too many risks.
As a result, he is not a good qualifying driver while Hamilton on the other hand has the pace to score great performances during both qualifying and races.
That is the main reason why he is what he is though and one has to admit that because of his unique driving style, he immediately made a mark in the sport.
