Jenson Button of McLaren excited about test new parts in Canada – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is excitedly looking forward to test their new parts in the free Friday practice sessions of the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix.
The Woking based team has struggled with some huge technical and tyre management problems in the season so far due to which Button and his teammate, Sergio Perez have not been able to attain competitive results with consistency. However, the British driver has said that they have planned to introduce some more updates in their car in the forthcoming race and are hoping to see improvements in their pace.
“For us Monaco's outright result wasn't great but in terms of our improvement and performance I think it was relatively good,” Button said. “We've got some new parts on car here to test which is exciting and hopefully they'll give us what we expect.”
However, he insisted that they are not in a position to fight for victory in the upcoming race. He also said that they must be ready to face any kind of circumstances in Montreal.
“It still doesn't mean we'll be fighting for win, in dry conditions anyway. I think if it's mixed we've got to be ready for every scenario and I think we can do well in that situation,” he said.
Nevertheless, he expressed that they made some considerable progress in the Monaco GP and are expecting to come up stronger in the next race.
“Our ride has got better; in Monaco we proved that really because we didn't expect to be as competitive as we were in Monaco,” he added.
Presently, the 2009 world championship is standing at 10th place in the drivers’ championship with 25 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Adrian Sutil of Force India and just one point behind his main rival, Romain Grosjean of Lotus. He has struggled in most of the races in the season so far, mainly because of poor tyre management. His best performances include his fifth place finish in China and 6th position in Monaco. It will be interesting to see how he performs at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on June 9, 2013.
