Jenson Button ready to strike back in 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is ready to strike back in 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
Button could not pocket any points in the sixth and seventh grands prix as he faced issues with the setup of MP4-27. However, he managed to secure 8th place finish in the European GP after setting off from 9th grid position which has boosted up his confidence for the forthcoming race.
“I've got to pull my finger out first if we're going to get that!” Button said. “But the last race for me I gained a lot of confidence in the car, so I will be arriving at Silverstone confident and ready to fight. It's a circuit that should suit our car, it's quite a fast circuit Silverstone which is good for us, and there's no reason why we can't lock out the front row.”
The 2009 world champion took an amazing victory in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia after he qualified for second place in the grid.
Although, he came 14th in the second race, however, he made a strong comeback in the third race as he secured an impressive second podium finish after starting from fifth grid position.
At present, he is at 8th place in the drivers’ championship with 49 points. In addition, he is 10 points ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and 4 points behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
On the other hand, his teammate, Lewis Hamilton is currently standing at third place in the drivers’ rankings with 88 points between the Red Bull Racing pair of drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.
Meanwhile, the Woking based team is at second place in the constructors’ championship with 137 points. Besides, they are 11 points ahead of Lotus and 39 points behind the defending champions, Red Bull.
Above and beyond, they are aiming to make the essential developments and the significant preparations in order to improve the pace of their car for the approaching races so as to make their position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
