Jenson Button says McLaren back at the front for Spain – Formula 1 news
Recent reports have revealed that McLaren driver, Jenson Button, is adamant that his team will be back fighting for their top position in the Spanish Grand Prix, having been undone in the Turkish race by their lack of upgrades in ‘MP4-26’ car.
The Woking-based outfit won the Chinese Grand Prix with his driver Lewis Hamilton. The team was looking forward to another race victory in recent Turkish race. After the upbeat race results, McLaren also intended on introducing new components for the Istanbul race weekend, but due to several issues, they were unable to get them into their car.
Button said, “As we've said before, the Championship battle is basically a development race, and we stumbled a little bit in Turkey because the progress that we'd anticipated making wasn't quite there. We're always developing new solutions, too.”
He went on to add, “But I know how this team reacts - they won't have liked having fallen off the bubble in Turkey, and we feel pretty confident that we'll be able to get the pace and reliability from some of our planned upgrades, so I'm optimistic that we'll have those components back on the car for Barcelona.”
The British driver kicked-off to a good season. The initial races of the ongoing season proved lucky for him, especially the Malaysia race, where he finished his second podium place for the team. While, the China race was best for Hamilton, as he put his team on top spot and delivered an excellent run, ahead of Red Bull’s, Sebastian Vettel.
The team took part in the Turkish Grand Prix, with hopes of winning another race after Malaysia and China, respectively. Their car did not respond well over the race and as a result, they failed to fight with the front-runners of the race.
Despite the poor response of their cars, Hamilton and Button really worked hard during the race and tried to complete their fourth and sixth place for the team, respectively.
McLaren will introduce new parts in the Spanish Grand Prix, scheduled to be held on May 22, at the Circuit de Catalunya, Spain.
