Jenson Button says he always dreamt to drive for McLaren, Williams and Ferrari – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s Formula 1 driver Jenson Button stated that he had three teams in mind when he joined the sport back in the 2000 season, McLaren, Williams and Ferrari.
Button stated that he has fulfilled his dream in two of these three teams, Williams and McLaren, in his 21-year long Formula 1 career and will look to drive for the third, Ferrari, when he gets the opportunity.
Button was previously speculated to take the seat of Felipe Massa in the Ferrari team and drive alongside Fernando Alonso for the 2012 Formula 1 season. Initially, the Brit denied the rumours and stated that he is happy with his current team.
However, the Brit also stated that he would never seek a long-term contract with any team as things can change drastically in no time.
Button stated, “Since I was a boy there are three teams I have dreamed about driving for, McLaren, Williams and Ferrari. I fulfilled a dream with Williams at the beginning of my career, and now I am at McLaren. I don't know what my future is, but I want
to have a car to fight to win races. You never know what will happen in the future.”
In addition, the 2009 Formula 1 champion stated that he will also have no problem to drive alongside Fernando Alonso.
“I am sure that if we were team-mates, Fernando and I would have no problem. Alonso is a great driver for who I have great respect, and I think we would do great things together,” commented Button.
Button started his career with the Williams team back in 2000 when the Grove-based team was considered one of the front running teams.
He is currently with McLaren which is also one of the top running teams in the 2011 Formula 1 season. The Brit is targeting a Ferrari seat although his seat at McLaren is going to be confirmed for at least until the 2012 season by a contract which is expected
soon.
