Jenson Button says he hopes McLaren can put on a fight in 2011 Japanese GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button hopes his team can put on a fight in the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix, which will take place on October 9, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
Button said that although his title fight is now officially over, but he is still thinking about fighting for his podium finish until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Woking-based outfit seems to fight for the 2011 championship since the last few races of the ongoing season. The team driver, Button once again took a podium position in the Singapore race weekend and after that, he is aiming to fight for his best possible
finish in the title fight.
The Brit commented, “We showed at Spa that we have a car that's very effective in high-speed corners. We've also improved our straight-line speed and we have a more efficient rear-wing for qualifying, so I think we're feeling positive about the weekend.”
The 31-year-old driver claimed second position for McLaren at the Marina Bay Street Circuit after a close fight with their rivals.
On the other hand, his teammate Lewis Hamilton is eager to put his team back on the podium after getting his Singapore race results.
He was unable to fight for his podium place in the recently held Singapore race weekend. After suffering with a drive-through penalty due to his contact with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, he ended his Singapore race at the fifth place behind Fernando Alonso.
The 26-year-old driver talked to the media and stated, “It's an uncompromising place. But that's when the thrill of driving a Formula 1 car is at its highest; when you know you can't afford a single mistake and where driving on the absolute limit is the
only way to get the best time.”
The Briton further mentioned that they can get better results from the next race weekends, as they have a very quick car at the moment.
Both McLaren drivers are looking forward to their successful last stages of the ongoing season despite their current position in the championship battle.
Let’s see how both of them manage the last five rounds of the 2011 season after the Singapore Grand Prix.
