Jenson Button says he is happy with his win in the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren-Mercedes driver Jenson Button has said that he is very happy with his race victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix held on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Budapest.
Button took three pitstops in the Hungarian Grand Prix and made a lot of struggle on the supersoft and soft tyres. He completed all of his laps and after a close fight with his teammate Lewis Hamilton, he ended up at the top place for the team.
After getting an achievement in Hungary, the Brit said special thanks to his team, as they managed the Budapest race weekend in a positive manner and supported their driver until the end of the race.
Talking to reporters, Button said, “It's very easy to say now, but personally I felt that I was able to look after the tyres for the remainder of the first stint. I think about halfway through people started struggling but I was able to push on and the car
felt really good.”
The 31-year-old driver further stated that he knew he was in a good shape during the race and that he was moving in the right direction from the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
He admitted that taking three stop during the grand prix proved as the perfect strategy for him. In addition, he mentioned that the car was supportive for him and the Pirelli tyres provided him an easy run during the race.
The team driver went on to add, “I want to say a big thank you to the team. Everyone has worked so hard to produce the car we have now. I think we are going into the break on a nice high. Every day we are on holiday we'll be thinking about Spa.”
After winning the Hungarian Grand Prix, Button is now at the fifth place in the 2011 Formula 1 drivers’ championship with a gap of 100 points from the leader, Sebastian Vettel.
Button’s teammate Hamilton completed his race at the fourth place ahead of Red Bull’s second driver Mark Webber.
Let’s see how McLaren manage the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season after a summer break.
