Jenson Button says he is wary of the Mercedes threat for the Malaysian GP – Formula 1 news
Jenson Button has said that he understands the Mercedes threat for the Malaysian Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton finished at the top in the qualifiers his team mate Jenson Button behind him and Michael Schumacher in the Mercedes at third place.
The qualifiers further confirms that McLaren is going to be the car to beat in the season, but as it has been the popular understanding throughout the build up  to the season the Mercedes car looks very promising.
Schumacher has been able to show glimpses of brilliance with the car, and it will not be a surprise if he goes on to finish amongst the top three on Sunday.
Button also said that he knows that Schumacher looks really good in the Mercedes and may be able to challenge them in the race.
He said, “I think they will be. I don't think they'll be the only ones. The Mercedes are a little bit tougher on their tyres it seems but they're very good at starts so that could be interesting in to turn one. And the Lotus is also quick I think - Kimi
proved that at the last race - so I wouldn't just say it's the Red Bull's that are going to be fighting with us for the good results. On Friday we did some long runs and it's tough round here on the tyres but I think we had reasonably good consistency.”
Button also admitted that it was disappointing not to beat his teammate Hamilton for the pole position and added that qualifying has been pretty good for him for the last two races so he cannot really complain too much about it.
It is good for the team to be at the front row again, and the engineers of the team have been very happy at getting a one-two position in the qualifiers, while conceded that he would have loved to be at one instead of being at two.
It will be interesting to see how McLaren fare during the race there is no doubt that Schumacher might give them a run for their money as weather conditions are expected to play a role as well.
