Jenson Button says it is still difficult to fight for 2011 championship – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that it is still difficult to fight for 2011 Formula 1 championship despite his race victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 31, 2011.
Button added that it is a fact that they were competitive during the Budapest race and that the team’s pace during the Hungarian Grand Prix was real.
The team driver seemed to be struggling for his podium finish from the last few races of the 2011 Formula 1 season. He took a positive start in the Budapest race weekend, where he had a trouble-free Free Practice session and qualifying round.
The Brit put all of his efforts during the Hungarian race and successfully beat Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in the end.
After the race in Hungary, Button mentioned that they are happy, as they were quick in the race and stayed ahead of Red Bull Racing team until the end of the race.
He also stated that after winning the Hungarian Grand Prix, he hopes to beat Red Bull’s Vettel in the 2011 drivers’ championship. In addition, he said that he can win this year’s title if he retains his current position in the second part of the ongoing
season.
Talking to reporters, the 31-year-old driver mentioned, “Spa is a very different race, and I am hoping that we will have a good package for it. I'm looking forward to running it, and hopefully we can fight for another victory. We should do well.”
Button went on to say, “As a team we have made it very difficult for ourselves over the last three races with failures, but I am a very positive person. I am taking it one race at a time. I don't look at the numbers. I will just keep my head down and concentrate
on doing the best I can at each race.”
After his second victory in the season so far, Button is at the fifth place with 134 points in the championship battle.
Let’s see how the Brit performs in the remainder of the season following his race victory in Hungary.
