Jenson Button says struggling Ferrari will catch up – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has notified that the struggling Ferrari team will catch up after the Italian team admitted that they did not consider themselves to be a rival for the podium in the first few races of the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season starting
at Melbourne, Australia.
Ferrari had been seen struggling with the aerodynamics of the new car F2012 during the pre-season testing. Therefore, the observers had been taking Red Bull, McLaren and probably Mercedes to be the strongest contenders for the forthcoming season while Ferrari
being struggling with the new car.
However, Button said that he was quite sure that Ferrari would definitely found their way out of the present situation.
“We’re all trying new things at the start of the year. One of us will get it right and I’m sure the others will follow suit in the end,” he told the Guardian. “They’re obviously on the back foot but I’m sure they’ll catch up.”
Pat Fry, the technical director of Ferrari said that the team was not in the place to win any podium position in the first few races of the forthcoming season. Moreover, the team imposed restrictions on the drivers to speak to the press in order to express
any negative comments about the team.
However, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari had expressed that the team would definitely pull through before the start of the first race and broke the silence imposed on him for creating a positive feel for the team.
Moreover, he said that nothing from the testing session can be brought to fact for the upcoming season as we were in fifth position at the end of the test at Barcelona two years ago and made one-two win in the Grand Prix at Bahrain just two weeks later.
In addition, he said that Ferrari had been slacked many times with a lot of discussions as compared to the performance of the rivals during the pre-season testing.
“There's lots of talk and many ideas, but nobody knows the truth. For example yesterday Red Bull, considered by many to be the front-runner, had only a few laps and the last time on the sheet: if something similar had happened to us, h**l would have broken
loose, but here nobody really noticed it,” said Alonso.
