Jenson Button struggles with tyre management issue again at Hockenheim – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that they struggled with the tyre management issue again during the qualifying of 2012 German Grand Prix at Hockenheimring.
Button could only set the seventh best time in the qualifying of the German GP as he faced problems with the tyre management on the wet track. Moreover, he was followed by his teammate, Lewis Hamilton whose performance was also hampered due to rainy conditions.
Besides, he said that they have been struggling with the same issues over and over again and asserted that they need to make the considerable preparations so as to come up stronger in the race ahead.
“It wasn't very good really,” Button said. “We were really struggling with the same issues that we always have in these conditions - we can't get the tyre working.”
He added, “You just can't get any tyre temperature. The whole time you can't hit the brakes because you lock up and even if you brake really early so you use the gears you're driving around so slow. But we're so slow and we're seventh, so it's not great
but it's not too bad. I think it really shows that that is a weakness that we need to improve on.”
Although, the 2009 world champion said that they were encountered with the same issue which they faced during the British GP at Silverstone Circuit. Nonetheless, he said that they are trying their best to find the solutions for the ongoing issues and are
confidently looking forward to strike back in the approaching race.
In addition, he said that he is focussing to perform at his best in the upcoming race and is aiming to attain good results for his team.
At present, he is at 8th position in the drivers’ standing with 50 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and is behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
Additionally, he is surely one of the most talented drivers in the field and has been deemed as a potential candidate for this year’s championship title.
Above and beyond, let’s see how the Briton shows up in the race ahead.
