Jenson Button sure McLaren will bounce back in the German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is sure his team will bounce back on the grid in the German Grand Prix following their disappointing last two races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Button admitted that the last two races in Valencia and Silverstone were very tough for them in terms of points. Despite the disappointing results in the last two races of the season, the team driver stated that he is looking forward to the German Grand
Prix, which will start from Friday, July 22, 2011 in Nürburgring.
Talking to the reporters, Button said, “I think the blown diffuser compared to the Ferraris hurt us a little bit, as I think we are probably doing a better job with our diffuser than maybe a lot of other teams. So when they took away the blowing, that hurt
us a lot, so having that back should help us.”
The McLaren driver discussed with the media that they arrived in Germany with new upgrades in their car. In addition, he mentioned that he is sure they can perform better on the grid this weekend with the new updates.
Apart from that, he talked about Ferrari’s performance in Silverstone and stated that they were much quicker in the British Grand Prix, as they had a perfect car around the high-speed corners of the Silverstone race circuit. Button added that Ferrari had
new upgrades in the previous race weekend which gave them satisfactory results in the end.
The 31-year-old driver went on to mention, “There is a great atmosphere and we all respect Martin very much. He is a very passionate guy in terms of the sport. I am very happy with the way things are going, and obviously tough races, we all have them, but
we can move on and up.”
Button praised his principal Martin Whitmarsh and admitted that he is doing a good job for the team.
After getting disappointing results from the last two races of the ongoing season, McLaren are expecting improvements from both of their drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Button in the second half of the season.
