Jenson Button targets to come up stronger in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button is targeting to come up stronger in 2012 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
Button has only been able to score five points in the last two races as he struggled with the issues of tyre management and car’s aerodynamics. Nevertheless, he has recently asserted that he is aiming to bounce back in the forthcoming race.
“Performance-wise, I still think it's difficult to accurately predict where we stand in competitive order,” Button said. “Valencia and Silverstone were certainly difficult races for us, but I don't think they were truly representative of our pace. This year,
you really need problem-free build-up to race if you're going to maximise car's potential and that's exactly what we'll be hoping for in Germany next weekend.”
Moreover, he said that they have planned to launch some essential updates in MP4-27 which will hopefully help in attaining better result in the race ahead. Additionally, he is expecting that the track of the next race will suit their car.
He added, “The final back-to-back before we head into summer break will be important for whole team: coming off the back of a couple of disappointing weekends, it's important that we capitalise on opportunities available in Germany and Hungary”.
He also said that he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the upcoming race and he has always enjoyed driving in Hockenheim.
Presently, he is standing at 8th position in the drivers’ rankings with 50 points. Besides, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus with 11 points.
It will be important to mention that the British driver claimed an incredible victory in the season opener held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia after taking a start from the second grid slot. Furthermore, he secured an inspiring second podium finish
the third race held at Shanghai International Circuit in China.
Although, he has been facing problems in the last few races, nonetheless, he is focussing to strike back in the approaching season to make his position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
