Jenson Button terms 2011 Indian Grand Prix at Buddh International Circuit perfect – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has described the 2011 Indian Grand Prix at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit as perfect.
Button said that he really enjoyed the raceday held on Sunday, October 30 in India after putting in a disastrous qualifying round at the Buddh International Circuit.
The Brit discussed his Indian race and added that he really struggled on his first lap of the Korean Grand Prix and lost a lot of places during that, so he wanted to redeem himself for his best possible finish in the Indian GP.
He also mentioned that he took a good start to the race, as he started from the fourth place on the opening grid and after that he was able to get up to the second position by turn 4 of the circuit.
The team driver admitted that his MP4-26 car’s pace was quite good throughout the Indian Grand Prix.
Button commented, “Every time through the pit stops we gained a little bit, I don’t know if it was the stop itself or after the stop, but I felt very good with the tyres out of the box. But, as soon as Seb got into a rhythm, I couldn’t do anything about
it really.”
He went on to mention, “All in the all for the team, we did a perfect job today. We couldn’t have done anything else; yesterday was a disaster for me in qualifying but I think we put it right here. But as Seb said it is a tough weekend for everyone in motorsport,
the last two weekends have been very, very difficult.”
The 31-year-old driver further added that overall the team did perfect job throughout the Indian race weekend.
Apart from that, he stated that the Indian race weekend was tough for all drivers, as everyone raced for the first time over there.
The Woking-based outfit driver believes the last two rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season will be difficult for the current top teams, as they are in a very competitive form at the moment.
Button managed a second place on the podium in the recently held Indian Grand Prix. After the Indian race, he is placed at the second position with 240 points in the season’s standings.
Let’s see how Button manages the last two races of the season following his second position in India. The next two rounds will take place in Abu Dhabi and Brazil respectively.
