Jenson Button thinks Lewis Hamilton is incredibly fast – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes is incredibly fast and will surprise everyone once he will be able to get a car to his liking.
Hamilton joined the Silver Arrows in this season and has performed amazingly well until now. He is currently standing at 4th place in the championship fight with 77 points.
Furthermore, he is ahead of his main rival, Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing and behind Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus. In addition, he has secured three third podium finishes in the season so far with his admirable pace. However, he has been completely outperformed
by his teammate, Nico Rosberg in the qualifying as the German driver secured three consecutive poles in Bahrain, Spain and Monaco.
Nevertheless, Button has said that despite being outclassed by Rosberg in the qualifying, the 2008 world champion has scored more points in the first seven races. In addition, he said that the 28-year-old has got an excellent pace and will definitely shock
everyone once he gets the car of his choice.
“You have to be fair, he has at least collected significantly more points than Nico,” Button said. “Lewis is incredibly fast, but for him it's the same as all of us; if he does not have the right balance in car that suits him, that he was used to for many
years. And of course Nico is also fast, but Lewis has not lost his speed. It is still there, he will come back and then he will shock you all.”
Regarding the ongoing between the FIA and the Brackley based team, the 2009 world champion expressed that he believes in Hamilton and Rosberg who have completely discharged all the claims.
“Both drivers say no. You have to believe them otherwise they would be a liar if they did. So I believe them,” he added.
It is to be noted that the Woking based squad have faced some huge reliability issues because of which they have not been able to attain competitive results in the season until now. Nonetheless, the 33-year-old has said that they are trying their best to
resolve their issues and are hoping to come up stronger in the British Grand Prix.
