Jenson Button thinks Lewis Hamilton will stay at McLaren in 2013 – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button thinks that his teammate, Lewis Hamilton will stay in the team beyond the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Hamilton’s agreement with the Woking based team is going to expire at the end of this season and it has been reported that the Briton may leave his squad after this year and may join any other team in 2013.
However, his compatriot, Button has said that he expects the 2008 world champion will continue to race with McLaren in the next season. Furthermore, he said that Hamilton has been provided with some amazing opportunities to score wins and to fight for the
championship titles in the team.
“Yeah, I think so,” Button said. “I don’t know what options he has, but Lewis entered F1 with a team that gave him opportunities to win races and fight for championships.”
Moreover, he said that it is not easy to move to another team as it is very difficult to build a side which is capable enough of winning races.
“He might not have the chance to be champion every year, but team gives him conditions to fight for victories every year, and when you have that, it’s very difficult to go somewhere else and try to build a winning team,” he said.
Besides, he said that for the drivers like him, it is extremely difficult to think about changing team as it is hard to make a good affiliation again from the start.
“Some drivers, like myself, needed to do this (move teams), but once you’re in a team like this you don’t want to look back,” he added.
Additionally, he said that he doesn’t know what options his team fellow has for the future while he said that the Scarlet team is not in his choices but he gave a signal about Mercedes in case the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes
leaves after this season.
On the other hand, it will important to mention that the team principal, Martin Whitmarsh has said that he is feeling positive that their driver will stay in the team after this year.
