Jenson Button to celebrate his 200th Formula 1 grand prix start in Hungary – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button is going to celebrate his 200th grand prix start at the Hungarian Grand Prix next month if everything goes according to the plan.
“So my 200th will be on the 31st of July in Hungary,” confirmed Button.
Button has been a part of the sport since 2000 after he joined Williams for his first full season in the sport. The British driver had a pretty good debut season as he scored 12 points to secure the 8th place in the drivers’ standings.
After that, he made a move to Benetton, which later on became Renault where he was unable to score a good performance in 2001 but in 2002, he secured the 7th place in the same team with the help of 14 points.
He joined BAR the following year and stayed with the team for 3 years. This was the time when he proved that he has the potential to use a weak car and score podiums alongside the top running teams of the sport. His best performance with the team was in
the 2004 Formula 1 season when he secured the 3rd place in the drivers’ standings with the help of 84 points.
The 2009 Formula 1 champion then joined Honda in 2006 for 3 years and this proved to be the worst time of his career.
Nevertheless in 2009, he joined BrawnGP and luckily, secured the championship in the team’s debut year in the sport. After his amazing performance with the team, he was offered a spot at McLaren.
After a rollercoaster season, Button finally joined one of the top running teams of the sport McLaren in 2010 and this year, he recently secured his first victory of the season at the Canadian Grand Prix. After his win, he is hoping of scoring some pretty
good results and competing for the championship possibly.
Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher are the two drivers to have the most race starts in the sport as Barrichello has competed in 310 races while Schumacher has been a part of 274 races.
